I met with Paul and Michelle at Kilworth House Hotel, Northampton, for their FREE pre wedding session back in February and decided it was one of my favourite venues so far. Everything about Kilworth House got my creative juices flowing. I do love a good staircase so imagine my excitement when I found not one but THREE of them I could use, even the smoking hut was pretty.
One of the reasons I do a free pre wedding session at the venue beforehand, is so that the bride and groom can choose their favourite locations from the images, before their big day. This saves time and stress trying to scout out the best places when they could be spending time with their guests. It also lets me taking into consideration the lighting and which areas to use at what time of day.
Paul and Michelle decided they would have the full day collection, which means I spent the morning with Michelle at her parents, while the hair and make-up was being applied by Verve Hair Design and Willow Luci Beauty. Once we had finished I went off to Killworth church to meet Paul and his groomsmen and capture the obligatory ring/flower shots before the bride arrived.
Michelle looked lovely in her lace dress designed by Sophia Tolli and the classic car from Classic Carriages of Northampton complimented the day perfectly. All week it had forecast rain, but thankfully the rain held off and the sun shone so brightly, we were all stood on the veranda of the hotel in short sleeves. This was a stroke of luck as Paul and Michelle had hired Taylor Made Duo to sing while the canapés and drinks reception was in full flow.
I did a handful of bride and groom creative shots while the canapés were being served, but we had already decided that there were plenty more we wanted to do in the evening.
I thought the Kilworth House Hotel entrance and smoking hut would look amazing with a coloured gel lighting them up and they had also asked for a sparkler exit leading into the surprise fireworks that they had planned. It was my first firework session and being the control freak that I am, I spoke to the guy from Komodo Fireworks to help me decide the best place to set up to get the best results. As you can see they worked out well and I was happy I had taken the time to get organised beforehand.
I wish Paul and Michelle all the happiness in the world for your new life together.
Until next time!
