Long before I became a wedding photographer I was a hairdresser!

Today’s interview is with Kerry Anne, who is a wedding hair stylist and someone I have worked with in the past. As a hair stylist and a photographer.

She is based in Milton Keynes, but like me travels the surrounding counties Northamptonshire, Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire.

Our paths have crossed at a couple of weddings and I love her wedding hair styles and her passion for her job.

Have a look at her Facebook page here if you are still looking for a stylist.

How long have you been a Wedding Hairdresser?

I have always done hair up work since I started in 1997. I started offering wedding hair, when starting my own business in 2017 after the birth of my second child.

What is the most popular wedding hairstyle this season?

I don’t feel there is a certain style, all brides should have a look unique to them. Hair should always work in harmony with the bride’s dress. I do get shown lots of pictures of low soft chignons, which I love to do.

What is your funniest wedding story?

Funniest story is watching my friend dancing to bohemian rhapsody and splitting his trousers from front to back whilst jumping off a window seat.

What one tip would you give to a bride and groom?

To have your day exactly how YOU BOTH want it. Also just take 5 or 10 minutes away from it all so you can take in the memories of the day

How many weddings do you do a year?

About 10-15 a year. I would love to do more, I could do wedding hair every day. I love the excitement buzz with the bridal party whilst they’re all getting ready

What is the average cost of a Kerry Ann Wedding Hair package?

Average cost based on bride and 4 bridal party guests is £200

What is your favourite part of a wedding day?

I have too many but these are the top ones.

  1. Watching the groom’s reaction to seeing the bride.

      2. Guessing what the first dance will be, my partner and I always play this.

      3. The dance floor in the evening

Who has been your most famous client?

Not had a famous client, but the best wedding was doing my sister in laws hair last year. I was honoured to do it. She looked stunning and it was a fabulous day

What was the most unusual style you have been asked to do?

I’ve not really done anything unusual, I did do a 1940s inspired look which I enjoyed

Has something ever gone wrong where you have had to save the day?

Yes but not with the hair thankfully. Let’s just say that myself and the makeup artist rescued the day

If you would like to see a wedding I have photographed where Kerry Anne has done the hair, please check out the blog post here

Until next time!
