Charlotte Chartell does both Wedding Hair and MUA and we have worked together on a few weddings over the years.

She is a fun person to be around, which can put the bridal party at ease… Especially if you are a nervous bride!

Charlotte works around the Northamptonshire area. Check out one of our wedding hair and MUA blogs here

How long have you been a Wedding Hair and MUA artist?

I qualified about 10 years ago after doing an HND in Manchester in Media Makeup Design. I started doing weddings after I had my little boy, and just set a Facebook page up after doing a few friends’ weddings and the next year I had 36 weddings!

What is the most popular wedding colours/styles this season?

Recently I’ve been asked for a lot more rose gold smokey eye makeup and ‘undone’ hairstyles – not too tight, romantic and soft

What is your funniest wedding story?

Can’t think of one in particular, but I’ve had a few bridal parties where we’ve been in absolute stitches just from getting on and having a good laugh. They’re the best when I feel like I’ve had a morning laughing with my friends

What one tip would you give to a bride and groom?

Enjoy every second of the day as it flies by, don’t stress about tiny details or any minor hiccups and problems, it’ll all fall into place

How many weddings do you do a year?

Usually around 30-35

What is the average cost of your Wedding Hair and Makeup?

Bridal hair and makeup is £120 and for bridesmaids/mother of the bride hair and makeup its £80

What is your favourite part of a wedding day?

Obviously I’m slightly biased, but I love the getting ready process (which I’m lucky to be part of).  The bride and her best friends and close female family, exchanging gifts. All getting glammed up and the excitement of the day ahead building.

Who has been your most famous client?

Not sure I have done anyone famous. I did work on a BBC drama when I first qualified, so I’d guess it would be someone on that but can’t remember names unfortunately!

What was the most unusual colour/style you have been asked to do?

I’ve had a few whacky brides who have had heavy eye makeup with glitter and bold lips. One I remember particularly had bright red hair too and her bridesmaid’s hair were orange and purple! Loved the colours in the photos it looked amazing!

Has something ever gone wrong where you have had to save the day?

I remember one situation where the bridesmaids had all gone to the church and left their bouquets at the hotel. I collected them all up and drove as fast as I could to get them there before the bride arrived!

Until next time!
